TAG HEUER X PORSCHE: IN THE SPIRIT OF RACING
In 1963, young Jack Heuer named a new collection Carrera (race) in honor of the famous Mexican road race. The collection featured an easy-to-read dial and chronograph function designed to meet the needs of race car drivers. The Porsche Carrera, equipped with the German manufacturer's best engines, was launched in the same year. However, parallels between the two brands' histories existed even before this, and now they are embodied in a special edition.
Edouard Heuer and Ferdinand Porsche were two visionary entrepreneurs who pioneered their respective fields. Heuer opened his watch workshop in 1860 and won a medal at the 1889 World's Fair in Paris for his self-developed chronograph mechanism. Eleven years later, Porsche gained recognition at the same event with his Lohner-Porsche hybrid vehicle, which could be powered by both electricity and petrol.
Motorsport has always been present in the history of both brands. In the same year, one of their models was named Carrera in memory of the North American car race that took place in the early 1950s. A few years later, the Heuer Monaco, the first automatic chronograph in a square case, was created in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix, and the company hired racing driver Jo Siffert to advertise it. ‘Seppi’ was also a Porsche dealer, and the Heuer logo adorned his car and racing suit.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition, launched on 4 February this year, is the first result of the official collaboration between the two rival brands that we can actually wear on our wrists.
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 44 millimetres and features the Porsche logo on the black ceramic bezel. The colours and font of the watch are reminiscent of Porsche models, and the dial features a striking asphalt pattern.
The rhodium-plated hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® and protected by sapphire crystal glass. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters. Available with a metal bracelet (CBN2A1F.BA0643, price: 2,052,000 HUF) or calfskin strap (CBN2A1F.FC6492, price: 1,980,000 HUF).
Both models are equipped with a Heuer 02 manufacture chronograph movement, whose uniquely designed oscillating weight is modeled on the Porsche steering wheel.
The packaging is also unique, with each model coming in a box designed especially for the Porsche edition.
