Ryan Gosling Steps on the Gas in Tag Heuer’s Latest Campaign
A Kaliforniai álom, a Kék Valentin vagy éppen a Drive – Gázt! hollywoodi sztárja egészen eltérő karaktereket képes hitelesen megformálni a filmvásznon. Életében először kötött nagyköveti szerződést valamely márkával, és választása nem véletlenül esett éppen egy óramanufaktúrára.
A 60-as évek végétől a TAG Heuer férfi kollekciójának meghatározó arca Steve McQueen, aki világhírű filmszínészként és autóversenyzőként is jól tudott azonosulni a sportos-maszkulin brand értékeivel. „Ryan Gosling egy másfajta férfieszményt testesít meg, amely érzékeny és visszafogott, magabiztossága pedig éppen olyan magától értetődő és könnyed, mint amilyennel a TAG Heuer mozog az óragyártás világában” – nevezte meg az együttműködés közös értékeit a svájci óragyártó elnök-vezérigazgatója, Frédéric Arnault.
Steve McQueen specifically wanted a TAG Heuer for the filming of Le Mans. In this iconic, must-see film, both he and the Monaco with its blue dial on his wrist became unforgettable. From the very beginning, the watch has been an integral part of the look of the characters portrayed by Gosling. Although – as he himself recounts in an interview – initially only the aesthetic appearance mattered. This changed significantly when the Canadian actor prepared for the role of Neil Armstrong in the film First Man. He had the opportunity to visit NASA headquarters and was amazed by the performance of the Heuer 2915A mechanical stopwatch worn by American astronaut John Glenn, which was the first Swiss watch in space in 1962.

In Gosling’s view—and surely many of us share this perspective—the first watch is also a symbol of coming of age, one that isn’t received as a gift from someone else, but is purchased with our own money, earned through our own work.
For the actor, the concept of time has also changed since raising his two young children. Children grow and develop at lightning speed. What we miss, we cannot relive, which is why Gosling now observes the passage of time much more attentively than before. At the same time, his desire for timelessness stems from his own childhood, when living under modest circumstances, there was no opportunity to follow fleeting fashion trends.
At his explicit request, the TAG Heuer campaign photos featuring him carry references to the film Drive, evoking the concept of timeless time. The New York photographer Pari Dukovic, who shot the images, stated that Gosling was closely involved in the creative process, focusing on colors and the depiction of two contrasting aspects of time.
