The name of the Mido watch brand comes from the Spanish phrase “yo mido”, which means to measure. The brand was founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren, and has since stood for innovation and timeless design. The first Mido Multifort watch was released in 1934, and was created based on new guidelines compared to its contemporaries. Physical durability was emphasized, with the aim of ensuring that, in line with the brand’s credo, not only the design was timeless, but that these values ​​could be enjoyed by several generations. In practice, this means that the manufacturer prioritized waterproofness, shock resistance, and scratch resistance, which, although now considered standard equipment, were not nearly so at the time.

The latest piece in the Multifort TV collection, the Multifort TV 35, continues this legacy in an elegant, sporty, yet clean model. The watch has a 35-millimeter stainless steel, vintage television-shaped case, which is complemented by a black dial. The dial boasts a special surface with horizontal stripes. The strong contrast of the two colors serves to improve readability. The manufacturer took care to create a compact watch compared to today's industry standards, which is reflected not only in the smaller case size, but also in its thinness. This is thanks to the extremely thin Caliber 72 automatic movement, which, with its 72-hour power reserve, ensures trouble-free and long-lasting wear.

The movement is equipped with a Nivachron™ hairspring, which is made of titanium alloy, making it more resistant, shockproof, less expandable when exposed to heat and less susceptible to magnetization. This movement is certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, which means a maximum daily deviation of −4/+6 seconds. The design of the Multifort TV is reminiscent of Mido's historical models. The slightly rounded, angular, television-shaped case design was also present in the brand's range in 1973, then in the 1980s and 2000s, and was once again in the spotlight with the release of the 2023 Multifort TV Big Date. This model can be seen with an orange strap next to the 35-millimeter piece.

The flat and square satin-effect bezel surrounding the dial follows the brand's mature design principles. The dial is quartered by four trapezoidal indexes, which, together with the other circular indexes, give the watch a truly distinctive look. The indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®, making all information on the watch easily readable even in the dark. The watch's outstanding characteristics are completed by the sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides and the diamond-cut hands.
