La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – May 11, 2021: Just before summer, the Swiss luxury watchmaker presents the TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition, an exceptional timepiece in a brand-new color: deep blue-green with an intense shimmer. Limited to 500 pieces, this watch artistically combines the tradition inherited from the first Heuer Carrera models with modern elegance, brought together in perfect harmony by the unmatched Riviera style.
The TAG Heuer Carrera collection pays tribute to the brand’s remarkable motor racing heritage with timeless, sporty, and elegant chronographs. Since their debut more than 60 years ago under the visionary guidance of Jack Heuer, these watches have become instantly recognizable icons thanks to their clean lines and perfect proportions. This carefully reworked new edition is a worthy successor to the original 1963 model.
Many similarities can be observed between the TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition chronograph and the Heuer Carrera 2447. The lugs, stylish case, polished pushers, and dial all harmonize with the features of its distinguished predecessor, while the detailed finishing and wider diameter – increased from 36 mm to 39 mm – meet the demands of modern times. The dial unfolds before our eyes in a refined and perfected tri-compax layout: three subdials with spiral decorations at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® for optimal legibility. Behind the retro-style, glass-box domed sapphire crystal – rising prominently above the plane of the watch and inspired once again by the original edition – the iconic HEUER logo and the CARRERA inscription are visible.
And last but not least, the previously unseen feature that makes this watch stand out from the crowd: the dial’s stunning blue-green sunburst appearance. A rare element in TAG Heuer collections, this color is a subtle blend of blue and green, giving the watch a creative spirit and refined boldness. Through the transparent case, the blue-green pattern of the dial is echoed in the movement: on the column wheel coloring and the edge of the oscillating weight in the form of the inscriptions "Calibre Heuer 02" and "Swiss Made".
The TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition houses the Calibre Heuer 02 in-house movement, a modern automatic chronograph mechanism produced exclusively in Switzerland at TAG Heuer’s Chevenez manufacture. This movement consists of 168 components, including the column wheel and vertical clutch – ensuring outstanding chronometer-level performance. It also boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
The watch is offered with a black alligator leather strap and a butterfly clasp with two safety pushers. Only 500 pieces of this model are available. The case back is engraved with the inscription "SPECIAL EDITION".
