The history of this brand dates back to the second half of the 19th century, when a young Leon Breitling opened a workshop for the production of watches in the Swiss town of St-Imier. Through his honest approach and persistent work, he defined the main principles of the company culture that continue to this day. The company's history has been and continues to be rich in firsts, patents, and inventions: the first wrist chronograph, official supplier to the British RAF, models such as the Chronomat and Navitimer with a slide rule. The Navitimer model in particular has won the hearts of watch enthusiasts with its legendary design and has been popular with pilots around the world.
Development and progress culminated in the creation of the first IN-HOUSE caliber, designated 01. It had a 3-day power reserve, a high-precision chronograph, and a 5-year warranty. Manufactured and assembled 100% IN-HOUSE at the newly built Breitling Chronometrie factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The new movement immediately attracted the attention of both experts and the general public, with experts ranking the Caliber 01 among the ten best chronographs in the world. The motto "Instruments for professionals" says it all.

You will learn what COSC is and what it entails in the following lines.
